Workshop with Eduardo Aquino

Today's workshop with Eduardo Aquino asked the question, "What is your game, what are your rules?"

While asking what the instructions for the Summer Institute participants games are, their method of approach for their proposed projects, Aquino also provided instructions for a few more:

/out of the studio - "in the city"
/the city into the work
/operating "in response"
/dissolving the "artist-self" - collaboration
/any opportunity is a "project"
/the project is not "determined" by the artist alone
/size, material, technique, design is not "decided" - it's "found"
/any surface can be inhabited with "dynamic life"
/money, budget does not matter

For the chosen 'game' emphasis was placed on indeterminacy, whether in the act of making, learning or teaching.

The suspension of knowing before knowing;
The pleasure of a risk well-taken;
The supreme condition of making;
("there is no point if it doesn't shock");
The finding of a structure which opens up;
