Freee (Dave Beech, Andy Hewitt, Mel Jordan), The Function of Art for Regeneration

Art and its Publics in 'Post-Conflict' Belfast
Curator talk with Daniel Jewesbury

Following the faculty and participating artist presentations, a curator talk with UK based artist, writer and curator Daniel Jewesbury was held that discussed the role of public art in the reshaping of Belfast, a city currently responding to years of civil and political unrest.

Art and its Publics in ‘Post-Conflict’ Belfast examines the importance of occupied public space and the regenerative capabilities that art can play within the city of Belfast. Jewesbury discussed in depth his researched look at the value and responsibility of art in the public sphere and how it can be used to further propagate dialogue and discourse within the city.
